This film shows the exceptional witnessing of Sister Angélique Namaika, a nun from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who has given her life to help women victims of the LRA, a rebellion spreading fear in the north-east of the country. Over the last ten years in the town of Dungu, Sister Angelique has helped more than 2000 women to heal from their traumatism and to regain their dignity and their desire to live. Through her faith, her compassion and her ingenuity to offer them training courses in order to become autonomous, she brings these women on a journey of resurrection and joy.

On 17th September 2013, Sister Angelique has received the Nansen Prize of the High Commissariat for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva.

Intercession du mois

Lord, give your comfort and your peace to all these refugees and these emigrants who flee their country because of a violent and poverty-stricken state of living. Give your strength and protection to all who, like Sister Angelique, risk their lives to help them regain their dignity. Give each of us to recognise Christ’s loving face through refugees, the excluded from our families and our society, so that we may have a heart that welcomes, that understands and is compassionate.

Parole du mois

Our Word of God for this month is from the Gospel of John, chapter 10, verses 10 and 11.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.

I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full.

I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.”
